We've been here just over a week now (one of our jumpers just arrived though!) and it actually hasnt been too bad settling in.
The puppies, I think, have settled in the easiest but then again what a life they have here! Backyard to chase lizards in, air-conditioning and dog beds, hours at the stables, endless people to play with at the stables and at their dad's office- oh to be a dog! ;)
The horses are settling in ok as well. We had Emily from Miller & associates come out to help them hydrate and give them some vitamins. I can not say enough how happy and glad i am we did this! I didnt do this last year but it has made such a difference this year with their hydration, energy and wellbeing. After only a couple days here, theyre both acclimated and their happy, energetic selves.
Otti and Trivi came out of the flight with a little bit of a respiratory infection but since we had the vet come out that day they were released, both horses are doing just fine now.
I've covered them both in a fly mask and full fly sheet because, of course, the florida bugs, mozzies and flies are relentless. Its not too bad this year (last year Otti had such bad bites!) but I think almost every horse goes through a phase of bug bites, hives and/or "florida eye".
Regardless, both horses are enjoying themselves in the warmth and being able to work outside. We love where we are and love being with Jamie and Gee!
We're still looking for a competition groom but we may have found our solution! Right now its just me doing all the work and another jumper will be arriving soonish! So I'm really hoping our groom situation gets sorted asap! :)
Thats all for now! Oh, horses are adjusting to the feed and supplements here as expected. However, otti is trying this new food we were introduced and so far its been amazing! Im going to give it a few more days/weeks before I can give an opinion but so far im in love (and so is otti!).
Hope you all are having a smooth trip into WEF!
